Martin Blakeman began his apprenticeship at Gordon Russell in 1959, following in the footsteps of his father, who was the Factory Foreman. Martin spent much of his career in the Contracts Shop, crafting bespoke furniture for prestigious clients such as the House of Commons and Middle Eastern Sheiks. Later, his role as Setter Out saw him managing the detailed work required to bring each design to life. One of his standout experiences was travelling to Japan to oversee the production of Gordon Russell furniture.
