Relief of Man ( St. John the Baptist and Saint or Apostle)

A figure of a man, St John the Baptist, in walrus ivory. The figure is carved in relief and was attached to a larger object such as a shrine. St John the Baptist is shown standing, his right shoulder is bare and he is wearing a fur-fringed mantle. He holds a scroll in his left hand. The right hand is a replacement, the right foot is missing and the back is flat. There are two holes in the body for attachment

This figure is pierced with two holes for attachment. It was attached to the same object as MG 028 A but was carved by a different hand. German, Cologne.
