Eid Lantern

Tengku Nora makes these lanterns every year with her children at Eid. As a Muslim from Malaysia, the month of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid are a special time to reflect on their faith as Muslims fast during sunlight hours during the month. Food is shared before sunrise, at a meal called Suhoor, and after sunset, at Iftar, where the friends, family, and communities come together to break their fast. Tengku Nora puts these lanterns outside of her house to replicate the tradition she took part in with larger lanterns lit by candles in Malaysia.
