VIOLIN IN CASE
Fruitwood violin in veneer case lined with plush red velvet. Two bows in lid, gadget box with rosin, extra strings. Satin coverlet, embroidered with coat of arms "Rectitudine Sto" A.I.d.P. Case has brass handle, brass knobs on back, two latches. Label inside lid of case:"Chas. F. Albert Fine Violins & Strings, 205 S. 9th St., Phila., PA. Chin piece, Charles F. Albert Patented May 5, 1891." Labeled in ink and pencil inside the body of the violin "Dominicus Montagnana sub signum Cremonæ Venetiis 1740" (40 is written in pencil). Underside of the neck: red wax seal with "AS"; scratched on back of case: "Denver, Colorado, Wappinger Falls, New York, Wooster, Ohio. W.A. McKinlay, Newark, Ohio, March 1872".
