Hyde Park was the location of several largescale suffrage movements. The first one was Women's Sunday, held here in 1908. It was the first ever large scale meeting to be held be the WSPU, who would later use violent tactics and be known as the suffragettes. It was attended by nearly 200 women. The second suffrage event was a march from Land's End to London. A distance of 287 miles! That's further than it is from London to Paris!
