The Box and Plymouth University

The Box marks the central location of Plymouth of Plymouth as we know it. This is also where we keep all of the pictures, posters and information that you have learned about today.

Plymouth University has a building named after Nancy Astor, the first ever female member of parliament to take her seat. That means she was the first ever woman who was able to vote on the laws passed. She was elected in 1919, just one year after the law allowing votes for women was passed.
