About

Hummingbirds captivate humans with their ability to fly backwards, upside down, and even hover - tricks used to feed on nectar. They sometimes hover in front of hikers, watching before flying away. Perhaps these aerial acrobats are curious about us, too!

Listen to an interview with Dr. Douglas Altshuler, Associate Head and Professor of Zoology, University of British Columbia, Interviewed by Elizabeth Bassett and Christina Mantey.
