A Promise Kept. In this richly textured painting, a myriad of vibrant colors recreates the end of the Biblical Flood Story. In the foreground, Noah gazes out at a miraculous scene. Spread before him, a rainbow spans a purple sky filled with colorful birds. At the center of the composition is a wooden ark featuring an exit ramp. Animal pairs of many species venture forth into a verdant valley, which lies beneath four mountain ranges. The scene conveys a promise kept as dark storm clouds retreat, giving way to a rising sun and setting moon in a star filled dawn sky.
