About

The first Bedford truck was produced in 1931, with 10,000 sold in its first year. By the following year, over 6,000 were already being exported, marking the beginning of a growing global presence. As production expanded, operations moved to Boscombe Road in Dunstable, and by 1973 Bedford Trucks accounted for 37% of British exports in this category. Their versatility made them highly sought after, and they could be seen in countries such as Australia, India and Pakistan. Trucks were fully assembled on site before being carefully dismantled and packed for shipping, ensuring they arrived overseas ready to be rebuilt.
