About

Here the car body is joined with its mechanical components. Engines, gearboxes, and axles arrive on a conveyor belt from the machining areas, while the body moves down from the trim shop. This final section of the production line stretched 1,000 feet and contained over 60 assembly points, carefully synchronised to the day's production schedule so that each component arrived exactly when needed. Customer orders were converted into coded instructions, guiding workers on any special specifications chosen by the customer. Here, the car first receives its axles, engine and gearbox, with the wheels fitted last.
