About

Panels from the press shop and joined together using a combination of welding methods. Hundreds of body shells may pass through this area at once. In modern production, each car required approximately 2200 spot welds and 2.1 metres of weld, carried out using a mix of robotic and manual techniques to ensure quality and consistency. Originally, this work was done entirely by hand. Over 100 individual pressings make up a car body and precision is critical to ensure good fits, utilising specialist equipment to continuously check component fit to 100th of a millimetre.
