Vauxhall played a key role in Luton's growth, providing many new jobs and attracting people from across the UK and overseas, including Ireland, the Caribbean, and South Asia. Although work at the factory was not always the sole reason they moved, it offered the stability, opportunities, and wages that helped them build a better life and ultimately make Luton their home. Local migration was also common, with Vauxhall actively recruiting in areas of the UK.
