Home is more than a physical place. It is where people are known and welcomed, and where generations remain close. Michif thrives around kitchen tables and in the everyday rhythms of community life.
There are three Michif languages, commonly referred to as Southern Michif, Northern Michif, and Michif French. Drawing primarily from Cree (Nehiyawewin) and French, with influences from Saulteaux/Ojibwe (Anishinaabemowin), English, and other languages, each Michif language reflects unique Métis histories, relationships, and ways of seeing the world.
